Software Product Manager – Store Systems


During the Covid-19 emergency the Company successfully shifted to a distributed
team model and we intend to retain this approach going forward. Accordingly, the
Product Manager can be located in practically any country as the majority of work,
including team collaboration, could be handled remotely.


Overview of the Role


The key objective of the RD (Retail Directions) Store Systems Product Manager is
to provide strategic, commercial and functional leadership for the developers
involved in the design, development and support of Epos and Mobile POS within the
Retail Directions Platform. Wide acceptance of our store solutions within the retail
community, as well as profitable operation of the development team, will be the
main measures of success in this role.


The main duties of the RD Store Systems Product Manager involve assessing
internal and external client needs, as well as performing market research and
analysis, to suggest new features to incorporate into the existing Store Systems
product.


To be effective in this role, the RD Store Systems Product Manager must be
technically capable and possess a unique blend of business knowledge and skills;
must be able to develop a big-picture vision, and have the passion and drive
required to make that vision a reality by working with the Retail Directions team.


The RD Store Systems Product Manager is responsible for defining and developing
innovative solutions for the broader retail market and is expected to spend time
with prospective and existing clients to understand their requirements and
suggestions.


The RD Store Systems Product Manager is responsible for the task of enhancing
the already existing RD Store Systems solutions and for developing new ideas
based on contact with clients, prospects, industry experience and trends, as well as
innovation.


Role responsibilities cover ownership and development of the strategic roadmap, as
well as the identification and delivery of future and ongoing development for the
Retail Directions Store Systems Solution - to increase penetration of the product
into the retail market and within Retail Directions’ clients.


The role includes creating a software product management ethos across the
company’s Store Systems Team. This starts with identifying and developing
potential new solution areas for the company and increasing the client-base and
profitability of the existing product.


The RD Store Systems Product Manager will manage and work closely with the
Store Systems Team, leading by example to define and deliver the requirements
identified for the RD Store Systems product roadmap.


The RD Store Systems Product Manager is accountable for the outputs of the Store
Systems Team, for sustaining a team capable of producing these outputs, and for
giving effective leadership to that team.


The Store Systems Team comprises Software Engineers and Senior Software
Engineers covering parts of Retail Directions’ platform written predominantly in
Delphi. Throughout the remainder of this document the term ‘Software Engineer’
covers both Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers.


Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, our Store Systems Product
Manager will work as a member of the Retail Directions Management Team,
liaising with managers from the following areas, who have similar accountabilities
and authority for their respective teams:

  • Architecture
  • RMS ERP application
  • Web Shop application
  • Analytics
  • Marketing
  • Technical Services
  • Human Resources and Office Management
  • Finance
