Store Management System
(with POS)

Our complete, end to end Store System, Retail Directions' SMS, handles all store-level functions within a single application: front-end (POS), store back-end (including reporting, reconciliations, banking, petty cash, stock control, messaging, and time in attendance) and data communications with the Head Office. Once again there is no need for interfaces; SMS gives you solid simplicity. All store functionality available on every register - at your fingertips.

SMS also gives retailers a strong competitive advantage thanks to its unique user interface. Human Engineering principles were important drivers during the development of SMS, which was designed to eliminate the need to train the cashiers. This reduces operating costs in the stores and overcomes situations when untrained staff operate POS systems. So, instead of trying to mould people to fit the machine, we have made the machine fit the people.

SMS has an intuitive user interface to prevent user stress and frustration. Font types and sizes, colour scheme, screen layout and transaction flows were all carefully designed and field-tested to minimise operator strain and to reduce the scope for mistakes. As a result, cashier training and re-training are practically eliminated and operator errors are minimised.

But all the great features would be of little value if the system was not robust. This is why designers of SMS put extensive effort into identifying all typical disruptions that could impact point of sale. Then they built a system that can cope with adversity. Each SMS cash register can operate independently, making the store system immune to network and other failures. SMS is equipped with features aimed specifically at making the system resilient, maximising its uptime, reducing lost sales and preventing disruptions to your customers.

Then comes the speed. A good system must be fast. This is why SMS is guaranteed to complete a sale transaction with 4 items paid in cash in less than 15 seconds everytime. When combined with facilities such as automatically applied rule-based promotions, integrated EFT or transaction hold (to process the next person in the queue without the need to suspend the sale), SMS gives the customers a great experience, reduces the demand for store staff and can even reduce the number of cash registers required in the store.

Living up to its claim of being a highly capable store management system, SMS also handles all system administration functions and automatically manages communications with the RMS Head Office system - handling network malfunctions and without duplication or loss of data.

Other innovative concepts have been employed to simplify the system. For example, stores no longer need to perform the typical and usually time consuming system housekeeping tasks. Backups are performed automatically as a part of data communications. Database administration in the stores is automatic, and no 'end' or 'start-of-day' batch jobs are required. This means that there is no need for computer skills within stores.

Our SMS is an ideal solution for a wide range of retail formats.
